M49 - Elliptical Galaxy
M49 is an elliptical galaxy located in the constellation Virgo. It was discovered by Charles Messier in 1771. M49 is one of the brightest members of the Virgo Cluster of galaxies.
M49 spans about 157,000 light-years across and contains a massive population of old stars. The galaxy is approximately 55 million light-years away from Earth and has an apparent magnitude of 8.4, making it visible with binoculars or a small telescope.
