Rigel is the brightest star in the constellation Orion and the seventh-brightest star in the night sky. It is a blue supergiant star located about 860 light-years away from Earth.

With an apparent magnitude of 0.13, Rigel is one of the most luminous stars visible to the naked eye. It is significantly more massive and hotter than the Sun.
