How to find M35 using Gemini

This guide uses bright stars first, then narrows the field for a telescope or binocular finder. Use Gemini as the main sky landmark.

Follow the route from one recognizable star to the next until you reach M35.

M35 is 13° above the horizon toward the northeast.

Begin with Gemini, then follow the reference stars toward M35.

Recognize the characteristic star pattern of Gemini before following the route.

Identify Alhena in or near Gemini; the chart shows its position relative to the guide.

From Alhena, move about 4.3° toward the northwest until you reach HYG 30883.0.

From HYG 30883.0, move about 4° toward the northwest until you reach Propus.

From Propus, move about 2.3° toward the northwest until you reach M35. This is the target field.
