How to find NGC2204 using Orion

Follow the route from one recognizable star to the next until you reach NGC2204.

NGC2204 is 23° above the horizon toward the southeast.

Begin with Orion, then follow the reference stars toward NGC2204.

Recognize the characteristic star pattern of Orion before following the route.

Identify Mirzam in or near Orion; the chart shows its position relative to the guide.

From Mirzam, move about 1.8° toward the southwest until you reach NGC2204. This is the target field.
