How to find NGC5102 using Scorpius

NGC5102 is below the horizon at the selected time. No suitable observing time was found during the next two nights.

Begin with Scorpius, then follow the reference stars toward NGC5102.

Recognize the characteristic star pattern of Scorpius before following the route.

Identify Menkent in or near Scorpius; the chart shows its position relative to the guide.

From Menkent, move about 4° toward the west until you reach HYG 67244.0.

From HYG 67244.0, move about 5.3° toward the west until you reach HYG 65109.0.

From HYG 65109.0, move about 0.3° toward the east until you reach NGC5102. This is the target field.
