How to find NGC6710 using LYRA

This guide uses bright stars first, then narrows the field for a telescope or binocular finder. Use LYRA as the main sky landmark.

Follow the route from one recognizable star to the next until you reach NGC6710.

NGC6710 is 50° above the horizon toward the northwest.

Begin with LYRA, then follow the reference stars toward NGC6710.

Recognize the characteristic star pattern of LYRA before following the route.

Identify Vega in or near LYRA; the chart shows its position relative to the guide.

From Vega, move about 6° toward the southeast until you reach Sheliak.

From Sheliak, move about 4.6° toward the south until you reach HYG 92550.0.

From HYG 92550.0, move about 2° toward the south until you reach NGC6710. This is the target field.
