Apollo 17 was the final manned mission to the Moon. Astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt landed in the Taurus-Littrow valley. Schmitt, a geologist, conducted extensive fieldwork, making this mission particularly valuable for lunar science. The mission returned the most samples and provided comprehensive data on the Moon's geological history.
