Mare Crisium - Lunar Mare
Mare Crisium is a lunar mare located in the Moon's Crisium basin, to the northeast of Mare Tranquillitatis. It is a large, dark plain formed by ancient volcanic eruptions.
The mare has a diameter of approximately 555 kilometers and is surrounded by the highlands of the Moon's near side.
Mare Crisium is estimated to be around 3.9 billion years old, and its smooth surface is a result of basaltic lava flows that filled the basin after the impact.
