How to find NGC1456 using Taurus

NGC1456 is 71° above the horizon toward the southwest.

Begin with Taurus, then follow the reference stars toward NGC1456.

Recognize the characteristic star pattern of Taurus before following the route.

Identify Aldebaran in or near Taurus; the chart shows its position relative to the guide.

From Aldebaran, move about 6° toward the northwest until you reach HYG 19990.0.

From HYG 19990.0, move about 5.1° toward the northwest until you reach HYG 18471.0.

From HYG 18471.0, move about 2° toward the west until you reach NGC1456. This is the target field.
