How to find NGC1541 using Orion

Follow the route from one recognizable star to the next until you reach NGC1541.

NGC1541 is 51° above the horizon toward the south.

Begin with Orion, then follow the reference stars toward NGC1541.

Recognize the characteristic star pattern of Orion before following the route.

Identify Rigel in or near Orion; the chart shows its position relative to the guide.

From Rigel, move about 6° toward the northwest until you reach HYG 22701.0.

From HYG 22701.0, move about 4.6° toward the northwest until you reach HYG 21444.0.

From HYG 21444.0, move about 4.9° toward the northwest until you reach HYG 20341.0.

From HYG 20341.0, move about 1.5° toward the northwest until you reach NGC1541. This is the target field.
