How to find NGC1588 using Orion

Begin with Orion, then follow the reference stars toward NGC1588.

Recognize the characteristic star pattern of Orion before following the route.

Identify Rigel in or near Orion; the chart shows its position relative to the guide.

From Rigel, move about 6° toward the northwest until you reach HYG 22701.0.

From HYG 22701.0, move about 2.9° toward the northwest until you reach HYG 22109.0.

From HYG 22109.0, move about 4.7° toward the northwest until you reach HYG 21139.0.

From HYG 21139.0, move about 0.8° toward the north until you reach NGC1588. This is the target field.
