How to find NGC1589 using Orion

Begin with Orion, then follow the reference stars toward NGC1589.

Recognize the characteristic star pattern of Orion before following the route.

Identify Rigel in or near Orion; the chart shows its position relative to the guide.

From Rigel, move about 5.4° toward the northwest until you reach HYG 22958.0.

From HYG 22958.0, move about 5.8° toward the northwest until you reach HYG 21718.0.

From HYG 21718.0, move about 3° toward the northwest until you reach NGC1589. This is the target field.
