How to find NGC2087 from Canopus

Identify the first reference star, then follow the numbered hops.

Follow the route from one recognizable star to the next until you reach NGC2087.

NGC2087 is below the horizon at the selected time. No suitable observing time was found during the next two nights.

Canopus

Center Canopus in the finder or a low-power eyepiece before following the field stars.

From Canopus, move about 6° toward the southwest until you reach HYG 27530.0.

From HYG 27530.0, move about 1° toward the northwest until you reach NGC2087. This is the target field.
