How to find NGC2101 from Canopus

Identify the first reference star, then follow the numbered hops.

Follow the route from one recognizable star to the next until you reach NGC2101.

NGC2101 is only 1° above the horizon, so the view is likely to be poor. No suitable observing time was found during the next two nights.

Canopus

Center Canopus in the finder or a low-power eyepiece before following the field stars.

From Canopus, move about 5.1° toward the west until you reach HYG 27621.0.

From HYG 27621.0, move about 0.7° toward the west until you reach NGC2101. This is the target field.
