How to find NGC2148 from Canopus

Identify the first reference star, then follow the numbered hops.

Follow the route from one recognizable star to the next until you reach NGC2148.

NGC2148 is below the horizon at the selected time. No suitable observing time was found during the next two nights.

Canopus

Center Canopus in the finder or a low-power eyepiece before following the field stars.

From Canopus, move about 4.5° toward the south until you reach HYG 29555.0.

From HYG 29555.0, move about 3° toward the southwest until you reach NGC2148. This is the target field.
