How to find NGC2252 using Orion

Follow the route from one recognizable star to the next until you reach NGC2252.

NGC2252 is 13° above the horizon toward the east.

Begin with Orion, then follow the reference stars toward NGC2252.

Recognize the characteristic star pattern of Orion before following the route.

Identify Betelgeuse in or near Orion; the chart shows its position relative to the guide.

From Betelgeuse, move about 6° toward the east until you reach HYG 29860.0.

From HYG 29860.0, move about 1.7° toward the east until you reach HYG 30419.0.

From HYG 30419.0, move about 2.8° toward the east until you reach NGC2252. This is the target field.
