Apollo 15 was the first of the 'J missions,' which allowed for longer stays on the Moon and more extensive scientific research. Astronauts David Scott and James Irwin landed near Hadley Rille and used the Lunar Roving Vehicle to explore the area. The mission provided a wealth of geological data and samples.
