Mare Nubium - Lunar Mare
Mare Nubium is a lunar mare located in the Moon's Nubium basin, to the southwest of Mare Imbrium. It is a large, dark plain formed by ancient volcanic eruptions.
The mare has a diameter of approximately 715 kilometers and is surrounded by the highlands of the Moon's near side.
Mare Nubium is estimated to be around 3.4 billion years old, and its smooth surface is a result of basaltic lava flows that filled the basin after the impact.
