How to find M67 using Leo

This guide uses bright stars first, then narrows the field for a telescope or binocular finder. Use Leo as the main sky landmark.

M67 is 13° above the horizon toward the northeast.

Begin with Leo, then follow the reference stars toward M67.

Recognize the characteristic star pattern of Leo before following the route.

Identify Regulus in or near Leo; the chart shows its position relative to the guide.

From Regulus, move about 5.4° toward the west until you reach HYG 47959.0.

From HYG 47959.0, move about 7° toward the west until you reach HYG 45614.0.

From HYG 45614.0, move about 4.8° toward the west until you reach Acubens.

From Acubens, move about 1.8° toward the west until you reach M67. This is the target field.
