How to find NGC2489 using Orion

Begin with Orion, then follow the reference stars toward NGC2489.

Recognize the characteristic star pattern of Orion before following the route.

Identify Aludra in or near Orion; the chart shows its position relative to the guide.

From Aludra, move about 4.3° toward the east until you reach HYG 37677.0.

From HYG 37677.0, move about 2.9° toward the southeast until you reach NGC2489. This is the target field.
