How to find NGC7197 using Cygnus

Follow the route from one recognizable star to the next until you reach NGC7197.

NGC7197 is 40° above the horizon toward the northwest.

Begin with Cygnus, then follow the reference stars toward NGC7197.

Recognize the characteristic star pattern of Cygnus before following the route.

Identify Deneb in or near Cygnus; the chart shows its position relative to the guide.

From Deneb, move about 6.7° toward the east until you reach HYG 105186.0.

From HYG 105186.0, move about 6.4° toward the southeast until you reach HYG 107749.0.

From HYG 107749.0, move about 2.5° toward the east until you reach NGC7197. This is the target field.
